Innovative "Meatrix" Exposes the Cruelties of Factory Farming

Watkins Glen, NY - November 6, 2003 - Farm Sanctuary, the nation's leading voice for farm animals, is pleased to announce the release of a new animated flash movie, The Meatrix, which explores the negative consequences of factory farming in a unique and compelling way.

As the name implies, The Meatrix spoofs the popular Matrix movies. But instead of Keanu Reeves, The Meatrix stars a young pig, Leo, who lives on a pleasant family farm...he thinks. Leo is approached by a wise and mysterious cow, Moopheus, who shows Leo the truth about factory farming-the truth about the Meatrix!

The movie is entertaining and clever, and highlights the role factory farms play in the breakdown of traditional communities. Factory farms are abusive to animals, and are a leading cause of antibiotic resistant germs and massive water and air pollution. Just as Leo chooses truth in The Meatrix, the American public is entitled to know the truth about where animal foods come from, instead of trusting the fantasy of happy animals on spacious farms conveyed by agribusiness.

The Meatrix, created by Free Range Graphics, can be viewed at www.bancruelfarms.org/meatrix.
