Farm Sanctuary Holds First Twilight Tour of the Summer Season
Visitors Invited to Unwind with Friends, Family and Farm Animals on Evening Tour of the California Shelter
ORLAND, CA – June 17, 2008 – Farm Sanctuary, the nation’s leading farm animal protection organization, invites visitors of all ages to come beat the summer heat and unwind with rescued animals on a special June 28 Twilight Tour of its 300-acre shelter in Orland, Calif. An intimate evening event, the Twilight Tour offers guests a unique glimpse into the nightlife of sanctuary residents, a relaxing sunset reception, and plenty of fun activities for kids and the young at heart.
The highlight of the Twilight Tour (the first of two planned for the season) is a leisurely stroll through the barnyard on which visitors will learn about the nocturnal habits of the shelter’s animal residents, and spend time with them as they ready for bed. Guests will then return to the People Barn pavilion to watch a captivating sunset over Black Butte Lake and mingle with other guests at a casual reception featuring delicious vegan appetizers and beverages—including beer and wine. A pajama contest and other family-friendly activities will also round out the evening’s events.
“Back by popular demand, our Twilight Tour event, offered for the first time last year, is certain to become a Farm Sanctuary tradition, as it not only offers our guests a respite from the heat so they can really enjoy their visit with the animals, but also a chance to have a more intimate educational tour experience at the farm,” said Matt Rice, Farm Sanctuary’s education director. “This calm, quiet time of the evening really lets our animal residents shine and show guests why they are so special and deserving of our compassion, protection and care.”
The June 28 Twilight Tour will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at 19080 Newville Rd. in Orland, Calif. Event registration costs $10 for adults and $5 for children and includes light snacks and beverages. To register by the Wednesday, June 25 deadline, please call 607-583-2225 ext. 221, or visit www.farmsanctuary.org/farm/calendar/ca_twilight/.
