Farm Sanctuary's Walk for Farm Animals Raises Awareness and Funds for Animal Rescue and Protection

Watkins Glen, NY - August 25, 2005 - Farm Sanctuary, the nation's leading farm animal protection organization, invites residents in over 50 cities to participate in the annual Walk for Farm Animals. The Walks will be held throughout September and October, in honor of World Farm Animals Day (October 2, 2005), and serve to promote increased awareness about inhumane factory farming practices. In addition, walkers will raise critically-needed funds for farm animal rescue, protection, rehabilitation, and humane legislative efforts.

Donning limited edition t-shirts designed by Bizarro comic strip creator, Dan Piraro, compassionate citizens will take to the streets and walkways, from Chico to Chapel Hill and Toronto to Tampa, to not just "talk the talk," but also "walk the walk" for farm animals suffering in factory farms, stockyards and slaughterhouses. Sponsors of the Walk for Farm Animals include Dr. McDougall's Right Foods, Fantastic Foods and MooShoes.

Anyone interested in becoming a registered walker or learning more about the Walk for Farm Animals in their area can visit www.walkforfarmanimals.org or contact Joan Gusic at walk@farmsanctuary.org or 607-583-4021 ext. 229.
