Farm Sanctuary's Northern California Shelter Opens 2005 Tour Season

ORLAND, CA - March 23, 2005 - Farm Sanctuary, a leading farm animal rescue, shelter and advocacy organization, will open its 300-acre Northern California shelter for tours beginning Saturday, April 2, 2005. Visitors will come face to face with curious cows, playful pigs, talkative turkeys, and hundreds of other spirited and social animals. Often memorable and moving, encounters with these extraordinary survivors have opened the hearts and minds of countless guests. By inspiring compassion in those who meet them, the animals at Farm Sanctuary truly have a special knack for making friends.

The 2005 California Shelter season runs from April 1 through November 30. Guided tours are offered on Saturdays, every hour on the hour, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. On tour days, Farm Sanctuary guests are also welcome to browse a unique visitor center and country gift shop.

In addition, Farm Sanctuary offers reservations for overnight stays at a country cabin located on the shelter grounds. Accommodations can also be found nearby in the town of Orland, CA or at the Black Butte Lake Recreation Area. Directions: From Interstate 5, take the Orland exit marked Chico/CA-32. Turn west off of the freeway onto Newville Road (a.k.a. Road 200). Travel west approximately 9 miles until you see Farm Sanctuary on the right at 19080 Newville Road.
