Turkeys Find Voice For Thanksgiving Through Celebrity Endorsements

Celebrities Corey Feldman and Persia White Encourage Compassionate Thanksgiving Choices Through Farm Sanctuary's New Public Service Announcements

Watkins Glen, NY - November 14, 2005 - Farm Sanctuary, the nation's leading farm animal shelter and advocacy organization, is pleased to offer Thanksgiving public service announcements now available for media distribution. These celebrity PSAs feature the faces of Persia White from UPN's hit sitcom, "Girlfriends," and Corey Feldman known for his legendary roles in the films "Goonies" and "Stand by Me," among others.

"Give a turkey a reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving," says Persia White. "These animals would much rather lie in your lap than on your dinner plate."

Corey Feldman adds, "Think about the turkeys this November and start a new tradition."

Both PSA's encourage people to adopt a compassionate Thanksgiving by leaving the turkey off the dinner table and feature rescued turkeys at Farm Sanctuary.

Celebrities have been a part of Farm Sanctuary's Adopt-a-Turkey Project for many years. At http://www.adoptaturkey.org, Alicia Silverstone and the Wyle Family (Tracy, Owen and Noah of ER fame) offer their favorite veg recipes for Thanksgiving. Other celebrities who have given a helping hand to Farm Sanctuary turkeys throughout the years are Kim Basinger, Casey Affleck, Kevin Nealon, Charlotte Ross and Linda Blair, who even adopted turkeys from a Farm Sanctuary shelter.

People interested in sponsoring a turkey living at Farm Sanctuary's Watkins Glen, New York, or Orland, California, shelters can do so by calling 1-888-SPONSOR or by going to http://www.adoptaturkey.org. For a one-time adoption fee of $20, sponsors receive a color photograph of their turkey as well as an adoption certificate. This sponsorship provides funds for feed, bedding and veterinary care for the turkeys.

Any broadcast media interested in putting these PSAs into rotation can contact Tricia Ritterbusch at 607-583-2225 ext. 233 or tritterbusch@farmsanctuary.org.
