The Farm
2008 New York Country Hoe Down Camping Information
Thank you for joining us for some rustic camping, Farm Sanctuary-style! Camping with other activists is one of the best ways to connect with like-minded people and share experiences and insights. This information is meant to provide you with the tools you will need to have a safe and fun time while staying with us at the farm.
If you plan to camp on the farm, you will be solely responsible for bringing your own equipment, i.e., tents, bedding, etc. Farm Sanctuary will provide all materials associated with meals, as well as firewood. Our gift shop is stocked with a modest amount of food and toiletries for your convenience. Individual camp fires are not permitted; however, guests will have access to our large public fire pit located in front of the People Barn. Smoking is permitted on the front porch of the People Barn only.
Please be aware that, even in the summer months, temperatures at night can become very cold, so come prepared with appropriate clothing and bedding. Also be advised that the noise from the Saturday night Hoe Down dance may extend past the time listed on the schedule. If you expect that noise will be a problem for you, please prepare yourself with any materials you may need to minimize the disturbance.
You will receive a map with your registration materials which will indicate where it is acceptable to park, camp and explore. For your safety, and that of our nonhuman residents, we ask that you please respect these restrictions at all times. We hope to provide you with plenty of opportunities throughout the weekend to experience the farm and spend quality time with the animals. No guests will be allowed unattended outside designated camping and recreation areas between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. each day of the event.
Alcohol Policy
Farm Sanctuary permits the lawful consumption of alcohol in the People Barn and highlighted camping areas only. For the safety of all guests and animals, alcohol is not allowed in any of the barns or animal pastures at any time.
Vegan Policy
Out of respect for our nonhuman residents, as well as the mission of Farm Sanctuary, we respectfully ask that you refrain from consuming any animal products while camping on Farm Sanctuary property.
We hope this information will help maximize your enjoyment of your weekend with us. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. Thank you for your respect and consideration. We look forward to seeing you on the farm!
Regrettably, our facilities cannot accommodate the volume of water required to provide showers to participants during their stay at Farm Sanctuary. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the understanding of our guests.
